Varun Rana is a New York City-based comedian, writer, director, musician, and social media creator. He creates comedy satire sketches and video essays about life as a modern high-tech worker, enjoyed by an audience of 200,000+ followers.

Originally from Detroit, Varun quit his tech job at Amazon in 2021 to start posting sketches on TikTok. He then spent a few years working at various startups (and collecting material), before one of them forced him to chase his content creation dreams full-time in 2024. 

Rana's work explores the psychological absurdity of modern work through the lens of a first-generation Indian-American. Through self-aware writing and deadpan sensibility, he brings light to uncomfortable workplace dynamics and the systemic forces that shape them.

Rana studied improv and sketch comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in New York City. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Michigan.
